View this email in your browser Neighbors, For the first time, the Mayor has released neighborhood-level data on COVID-19 cases, as reflected in the map above. I am concerned to learn that Ward 5 has two neighborhoods listed among the top 10 in DC, and our 846 positive cases make us second among all of DC's eight wards. Despite extraordinary social distancing measures, we have yet to flatten the curve, and the pace of positive cases each day continues. I want to encourage all residents to be vigilant and, if you have symptoms or believe you may have been exposed to someone who has coronavirus, get tested. DC is offering drive-through and walk-up testing by appointment at UDC-Bertie Backus on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For an appointment, call 1-855-363-0333. Howard University Hospital is offering free testing on Benning Road NE in Ward 7 at 4414 Benning Rd., NE, Suite 2400. Call 202-865-2119 to make an appointment. There are more than 10 other testing centers in DC, check http://coronavirus.dc.gov/testing for a full list and contact information. DC Health has provided recommendations for essential workers (who are not healthcare workers, Fire and EMS personnel, or law enforcement) to help protect themselves and other members of the community. All essential workers who are not required or instructed to wear respirators and/or medical masks for their job are encouraged to wear non-medical masks. Finally, we all need to stay home and maintain social distancing. The actions you take may expose the people in your home to the virus, even if you feel fine. I encourage residents only to leave their home if it is essential to do so, wear a mask, and maintain six feet of distance between any other people to the extent possible.
