Seems the building that's sitting on the land that St. Martins wants to turn into a large low-income development is now pending historical designation.
Odd huh?
Strikes me as a bit shady that this has just come up. Not that we dont have wonderfully historic and worthy of saving buildings here, but you gotta wonder how this slid in.

Firehouse @ New York and M
you know that cool firehouse on new york? About a year ago i saw a for lease sign and called about it. it was 12,000 a month or something crazy. I thought it'd make a good shop for my business, but thats too expensive.
Seems its been rented to a capoeira studio. heres the website.

So, from 5-8 pm you can go see many of the houses listed for sale in LeDroit Park/ Bloomingdale/ Eckington.
You can see the listings of them on the back two pages of the city paper. If anyone has a city paper and cares to type them out, i'll post em.
Every open house i've gone to in the neighborhood i have met a bunch of neighbors. Seems we all want inspiration for our renovation jobs, and to see the subtle diffences in our old houses.

liquor stores in the hood
Seems that there are petitions going around to block the alcohol licence renewals for at least three area liquor stores, Big Ben included.
here's a thread over at InShaw
There is also some discussion on the Truxton Circle Website.
I don't know if its the right thing to do or not, but i do know that there would still be plenty of choices for alcohol purchasing in the hood if these stopped selling.
