My uncle teaches free tai chi and kung fu classes in Bloomingdale, and I was wondering if you could be so kind to promote his classes on the Bloomingdale blog. His name is Raymond Wong and he has lived in the neighborhood for 50+ years and has been teaching classes here for the past 30 years.
Classes are held every Saturday from 9am-10am outdoors at the corner of 2nd and Florida Ave NW.
He is also hosting an event on April 30th for World Tai Chi day which will also take place at the corner of 2nd and Florida Ave NW. It starts at 9:15 am with ceremonies and refreshments and at 10am, a group tai chi routine will commence - everyone is welcome. This week, UrbanTurf visited another of DC’s Hidden Places, a one-way street just steps from North Capitol Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW in Bloomingdale.
Flagler Place is a quiet three-block street full of history, starting with the Tiber Creek, a bygone tributary of the Potomac River that used to run where the street is now. The street runs parallel between First and Second Streets NW, from Adams Street to U Street (map).

We had a package stolen from our front porch on the 100 block of U Street NW, on April 19th at 4:47pm. We have a few video stills from our surveillance camera of the thief. He didn't look squarely at the camera, but perhaps someone on the listserv might recognize him. He was walking with another man who was wearing a black pants and a blue long-sleeved shirt (unbuttoned and untucked). After snagging our package, they walked in the direction of 1st Street.

package theft today on the 2000 block of 1st Street NW
This is just to alert people
in the neighborhood. We had a package stolen today 4/26/2016 shortly after it was
delivered on the 2000 block of 1st St NW in Bloomingdale. According to the time
stamp of USPS tracking, it was delivered at 11:16AM and it was not there at
11:45AM when we checked. Unfortunately we don't have camera footage of the
thief. USPS usually hides packages behind our front steps, but this thief must
have followed the postman.
