Dear
ANC Commissioners,
Please
be advised that DDOT has contracted Capital Paving of DC (CPDC) for temporary
utility removal and restoration of alleys as shown on the attached document and
location map.
Resident
notification letters have been delivered to the first block of residents
(between Thomas Street NW and U Street NW) on 2/28 by CPDC. CPDC intends to
begin work from 3/6/2017 which will last for about 15 weeks.
Please
let DDOT know if you have any questions or concerns about the planned works. DDOT
looks forward to receiving your active participation and full support to
complete this project in time and with as less inconvenience to the community
as possible.
Thank
you,

This is great news, as the tunnel construction left our alley in pretty damaged condition. It is not clear from the DDOT note if this will be all-brick paving, matching the work done before the tunnel construction started, or could be asphalt. My only note of caution is that if the alley restoration happens at the same time as the streets and sidewalks restoration that was put off until April, we could once again find there is no place to park.
DC Water had told me that the restoration would be all brick. I sent an email to Horacio to see if he could confirm w/ DDOT that is still the plan (including DC Water's email commitment that it would be brick).
General street restoration is supposed to take place starting March 20th, so appears there will be some overlap.
