Business Highlight: Glassey
|
|
|
This month’s business highlight features Taj Sohal
from Glassey (1625 1st Street NW).
"Glassey" is a term commonly used in Punjab, India to
describe a boozy fun-filled time. The restaurant opened in
April 2020--at the beginning of the pandemic--and is going strong,
serving the neighborhood with its unique take on Indian street food (more).

Art from the Heart of Tom Noll
|

One of the focal points of our neighborhood is the
small park at the corner of 1st Street NW and Rhode Island Avenue NW
in front of City Cleaners. The park’s whimsical seasonal and holiday
displays built around a white bicycle fence come from the heart of neighbor
Tom Noll. He has been delighting Bloomingdale with his installations
for the past 12 years. We recently caught up with Tom to explore his
current Easter installation and to learn what inspires him to create
for his neighborhood (more).

New Eats in the Neighborhood!
|
|
|
|
The wait is over...Supreme Barbeque & Aunteaboba's are now open in Truxton Circle!
Located at 2 Florida Ave. NE, the two businesses occupy the space
that was formerly NY Pizza. In one place, you can grab slow-cooked
and smoked brisket, ribs, or chicken from Supreme BBQ and then cool
off with one of Aunteaboba's ice-cold bubble teas. You can learn more
about the restaurants here.
Their soft opening is today, April 5, from 11am-9pm: stop by to
welcome them to the neighborhood!
