Hi BFM Fans!

Welcome back to the market -- transformed into a full fledged summer market!

Yes, we  have no bananas at BFM Sunday... ....but we will have lots of LOCAL corn, yellow peaches, more than 20 varieties of tomatoes, blueberries, raspberries, currants, gooseberries,  the first  summer apples of the season, cucumbers, eggplant, 10 varieties of summer squash, many different new potatoes,  Japanese, Italian and Thai eggplants, hot and sweet and banana peppers, beets, slicing and pickling cukes, arugula, kales, chards, purslane, melons (and maybe watermelons), broccoli, cabbage, spring onions, shallots, red and white onions, fresh garlic, pastured pork,, chicken, , flowers, herbs, , carrots, jams. Croissants, baguettes,  whole wheat and mult -grain loaves, boules, sandwich breads, pies sweet and savory, pastries, cookies and brined pickles, kimchi and kraut.  Plus award winning cheeses and yogurt.  Keswick has 6 new cheeses this season -- mixed milk plus the evanescent Spring Cheese-- from milk flavored by the cow's eating the first grasses of the Spring.

Don't know what to do with our gorgeous, tart gooseberries( the redder and purple ones are sweeter).  If you like rhubarb, you will love gooseberries.   Besides reminding you about those English classic desserts: gooseberry fool and syllabub, here are 7 unusual recipes: Gooseberry Ginger Bellini, Baked Gooseberry, Baked Gooseberry Ginger and Creme Fraiche Cheesecake, Gooseberry Soup, Gooseberry Sorbet....

Tiny strings of exotic jewels -- that's what Reid's fresh currants look like-- and they are almost too pretty to eat.  But their little pops of refreshing acidity enliven salads, and makes the French crazy. with food lust.  They love currant tart, currant jam, currant ice cream, currants with meat.  When I tell French friends that we have all the colors of currants at BFM, they are soooooo jealous.  Here are 7 days of ideas for our currants:
