Intro to Green Roofs

At last month’s Bloomingdale Civic Association (BCA) meeting WASA representatives announced plans to fund green roofs grants for District residents. Green roofs have been used effectively in other places to control storm water run off and as a solution to other watershed-related environmental problems.

The grant application process will begin before the end of this fiscal year. If you’d like to learn more about green roofs and how they can help lower your heat and air conditioning bills, extend the life of your roof, slow the flow of water to Bloomingdale’s inadequate combined sewer system in heavy rains, among other wonderful benefits, sign up to attend one or both of the following events coming soon to the Green Building Institute, 7761 Waterloo Rd. (Rt. 175) in Jessup, MD 20794:
