Fedex delivery left on the front stoop -- not there ...?

From a resident at 31 Florida Avenue NW:

Wanted to let you know that a FedEx box containing $215 worth of bicycle parts (for one of my housemates) was left on the front stoop at 31 Florida Ave NW today, with a note in the mailbox saying it was behind the potted plant. When my housemate arrived this evening, it wasn't there.

Delivery people should know to leave packages hidden under the stoop in this neighborhood.

  1. Have your FedEx packages sent to:

    FedEx World Service CenterAddress:‎
    1501 Eckington Place Northeast
    Washington, DC 20002

It is relatively close and if someone steals it from there - it's on FedEx.

  2. Speaking of delivery issues...besides poor customer service, has anyone had trouble with the US Post Office on Florida Avenue NW? I mailed three items (I gave them to the postal clerk) on February 5th and NONE of the items have made it to their final destinations.

  3. I have had two USPS packages come up missing in the last week and a half (Florida and T). When I track them, it says delivered, but no one has ever seen them...

  4. You all may remember the posts on postal theft? This is the third or even fifth one - we had to stop getting ALL packages delivered to our home on S Street as of the theft we experienced a few weeks back. I know it didn't sink in until it happened to us and we ignored the previous warnings, but now you know. Apparently Fedex and USPS can't do anything about it (judging by their response to us, along with our warning that this is a regular occurence in our neighborhood) - they won't do anything about the theft, no one will take responsibility (USPS, shipper, delivery, etc.) and as you saw in the last post, the local MPD won't take action because it's "federal". Even though a previous poster had a PHOTO of one individual holding our stolen property, USPS didn't even want the information. So - ideas from neighbors on what we can do are welcome! I previously thought leaving a decoy package and a webcam would be great - but apparently even with evidence, no one cares, responds or even refunds you. Sigh. Now I get things delivered to an office or have to rent a zip car to pick up at the PO - adds a huge markup to any package which is totally pathetic.

  5. Read the Feb 10 posting for all the information you need to call USPS. The key is to be diligent with them. They are not on top of things. There's even a picture of the probable suspect in that post. The neighborhood would do well to keep an eye out for the thief and confront her.

  6. The funny thing is, I reported as missing an amazon.com item that was delivered under the stoop at my house - one of my roommates discovered it a few weeks later.
