Nationwide Open House Weekend

We are fortunate in DC to have a real estate market that lends itself to an active open house culture. In honor of April being Fair Housing Month, the National Association of Realtors is sponsoring the Realtor Nationwide Open House this weekend. The intent is to encourage open houses, particularly in neighborhoods that may not provide as much open market access as we enjoy. As part of this event, I will be holding my new listing in The Nebraska open at 51 Randolph Pl NW from 2-5pm on Sunday 4/11. More info on that and all the other listings open on Sunday can be found by clicking the link.

For curious neighbors, 1922 3rd St NW, the large yellow detached house designed by James McGill, will be held open on Sunday. I represent Community Three Development, who currently has the property under contract. Neighbors may be interested to see firsthand the current condition of the property, which will require extensive and expensive reconstruction. Bill Jackson from Long and Foster will be holding the property open from 1-4pm. Follow the history of the development process by visiting www.leftforledroit.com.

  1. You can make your house look great and find something to eat off of too, at the HINCKLEY POTTERY 19th ANNUAL STUDENT SHOW APRIL 25.

Hinckley Pottery, which has been making fine pottery for the Washington area for more than 40 years, will be holding its 19th annual student show at its studio in Adams Morgan on Sunday, April 25, 2010.
More than two dozen experienced students will display a years' worth of artistry for sale to the public. Their pots make wonderful gifts for Mother’s Day or any other occasion. Come meet the potters, enjoy a delicious spread of food, and find the perfect presents for housewarmings, Mom, graduations, weddings or yourself.
All of the pots are meant to be used and enjoyed. They are lead-free and almost all are dishwasher, microwave and oven safe. Of course, many buyers also like to display these pieces to add decorative flair to their homes.
Student Karlee Yurek, says "it is such a delight to step out of day-to-day work to craft beautiful, functional items, and then be able to share them with others." Karlee will be offering a variety of housewares including mugs, bowls, French-style butter bells and citrus juicers.
After a six year hiatus, it feels great getting muddy again.” Says Christina Zola, “This year with the teachers at Hinckley Pottery has been extraordinary. I've
rediscovered old skills and learned so much more.” Christina will be offering noodle, rice and tea bowls, and decorative boxes.
A participant in the student show for over 10 years, AB Garcia-Bokor appreciates the opportunity to “make and send pots to good and loving homes.”
