Showtime bar/coffeeshop open house – tomorrow, Saturday, 4/14/2012

From Bloomingdale resident Paul Vivari:
To our Bloomingdale / LeDroit Park / Eckington neighbors:

Come on by and see the future of 113 Rhode Island Ave. NW!

We`re hoping to open a small neighborhood bar/coffeeshop at the former Showtime Hair Salon on the corner of Rhode Island Ave. and 1st St. NW. We`ll be offering a variety of affordable drinks and snacks in addition to featuring DC`s only all-soul and rhythm n` blues jukebox.
Our main objective is to serve the residents of Bloomingdale, LeDroit Park and Eckington by maintaining a laid-back and intimate atmosphere that emphasizes conversation and getting to know your fellow neighbors. We`ll also be paying respect to the salon that closed by keeping the name alive: we`ll be calling it the Showtime.

I personally have lived above the establishment for the last five years and have seen first-hand the regeneration of the neighborhood and the continued support for new local businesses. I`m excited to add something new to the neighborhood I call home, and hope the community does as well. We`d would be happy to meet and get to know all of our surrounding neighbors and answer any questions or concerns you might have.

We`ll be having an open house this Saturday, 4/14/2012, from 2:00 pm-6:00 pm, at the Showtime, giving anyone who wants to stop by a chance to see the establishment pre-build out and hear our ideas for the design of the space. We`ll be offering sodas and chips throughout and would love to show the community our plans.

Following the open house, our new ANC-5C04 Commissioner Mark Mueller has set up a community meeting on Wednesday, 4/18/2012 at St. George`s Episcopal Church at 160 U St. NW, from 6:30 pm-8:00 pm, to hear input from the community about our proposed business. We`ll be there as well to answers any questions you may have. We`d also like to thank St. George`s for donating us the time and space to hold this meeting.

We hope to see you at one or both of the events! Feel free to contact me personally as well if you have any specific questions you`d like me to address.
