John Salatti: Helping the Guardian Angels: Supporting Those Who Protect Others

From John Salatti:

The Guardian Angels: Keeping It Safe

Since restarting the neighborhood safety walks in 2008, I have had the pleasure of working with the Guardian Angels, a volunteer organization dedicated to protecting residents from crime. The Angels complement the work of MPD and work closely with police. For more than 20 years here in DC, they have been making a difference wherever they go, reducing crime and apprehending criminals. And they do this without weapons; their training includes instruction in First-Aid and self defense. [For more about the DC Angels, go here .

The Angels have even come to Bloomingdale. At my request, they have attended walks and talked with neighbors about the strongest ways to conduct such walks and about other crime prevention actions that any of us can take. They have helped us and now I want to help them.

I am assisting in a fundraising effort. Although the Angels are all volunteers, running the organization and having equipment does require money. So the Angels have put together a raffle as a way to raise needed funds. The raffle prizes are:

--a one-week condo stay in Nassau in the Bahamas
--an iPad with a docking station
--$500

Will you join me in this effort? The raffle tickets are $20 a piece. If you buy four, you get a fifth one for free. The drawing will take place on December 1, 2012 at the Brookland Cafe, 3740 12th Street NE at 3:00 p.m. You do NOT have to be present to win.

To help out the Guardian Angels, just let me know and I will get some tickets to you. The tickets can be purchased by check made out to
"The Alliance of Guardian Angels, Inc." If you'd just like to make a donation to the Angels' nonprofit organization, click here and then click on "Donate."
