Dear
Friends of Crispus Attucks Park,
Some
of you may have already noticed that the "Dogipot" pet waste bin was
removed from Crispus Attucks Park this past weekend. After six and a half years of having the bin
in the park, the CADC Board decided it was time to remove it.
There
were a number of considerations that factored into the decision. First, as more and more neighbors have
discovered the park, we became increasingly concerned that the presence of the
Dogipot gave the (false) impression that Crispus Attucks Park is a dog park. It is not, and we cannot allow dogs to be
off-leash in the park. Second, as dog
traffic continues to increase in the park, it is becoming too difficult for park
volunteers to empty the waste bin often enough to prevent if from becoming
overstuffed, and frankly from becoming a health hazard.
Now
that the waste bin is gone, dog owners are asked to (of course!) pick up their
dog's waste and also to take it off the premises with them. The neighbors who abut Crispus Attucks Park
will certainly appreciate not having their supercans loaded up with baggie
after baggie of dog poop.
As
always, leashed dogs and their humans remain welcome in Crispus Attucks Park,
as are all members of the local community who cherish this unique green
space. We are all stewards of the park. Thanks to you all for helping to keep it an
inviting community oasis.
Best
Regards,
John

P.S.,
We are happy to report that the Dogipot will not go to waste. It will soon find a new home in a dog park in
the DC metro area.
That's really great information that now that the waste bin is gone, dog owners are asked to (of course!) pick up their dog's waste and also to take it off the premises with them. This post is really helpful for every visitors. Many thanks for sharing this informative post.
