I love these old news clippings that show the real historic walk of Ledroit, Bloomingdale and Eckington. Interesting how this history is not captured anywhere on the "historic" markers that go up in the neighborhood. This area was developed and built in late 1800 and early 1900s, not in the 1950s and later. How can we better capture the full history of the area and include it on the historic markers that so much effort is being put into creating? I love the marker idea, just not the narrow view of "history" that they try to capture.
