complaints about the 7th & U Street NW CVS store

From a neighbor:

I am writing to see if any other Bloomingdale residents will write to  or call CVS to complain about CVS store 1355  which is on Seventh Street NW by U street?  It's a place I dread going to so much that I go out of my way to go to my old branch. Unstocked shelves. long lines, no self check out, random things locked away, people loitering, and  general disarray of the store is not what I expect from CVS. I drive thirty minutes away to get my prescriptions filled from my old CVS in Tenleytown. I feel like if a few of us voiced our concern we might get a decent pharmacy in our neighborhood. to sign in. 
          
I wrote: "What are you going to do to make this better?"

if you want to get more of a sense of what i am talking about read the google and yelp reviews, I have now written CVS twice but am unable to continue with the correspondence because of not being able

Walking in here will make you feel like you've crossed into another dimension, one in which both time and logic ceases and thousands of years of human advancement towards what is considered civilized behavior is suddenly negated for no apparent reason whatsoever. 
         
You're greeted by a cop as you walk in and that sets the tone for the type of ride that you've unknowingly been in line for since you egressed from your mother's womb: the world is unstable and this place reeks of crack smoke and decades of failed domestic policies. 
        
All CVS's are, by default, limited to one star. The lines take forever, everything is overpriced, the CVS card and brand of products are terrible, and the goods and provisions offered are always peculiar. 
          
This store, however, is a social sciences experiment and is brilliant as such. I avoid this place with all of my heart, yet my mind is sadistically drawn here to catch a chaotic glimpse of how close humanity toes a line protecting us from madness. 
         
Not only will you be trapped here in perpetuity if you dare roll the dice and try to buy something from the pharmacy, but even if you want something so simple as a bag of pretzels, you will be forever frozen in this place (much like Wesley Snipes and Sylvester Stallone in Demolition Man). 
            
I sat there in the pharmacy line, a man with an IV still dangling from his arm was hunched over in his chair; I'm not sure about the nature of his ailments or who strolls around with wounds like this or why. Another woman was spooning gobs of peanut butter into the mouths of her children while I tried to locate protein supplement. 
                
Alas, though, you can stroll around the aisles and forage for goods. $7 face wash is curiously locked up behind plexiglass, while more expensive and easier-to-steal products remain vulnerable, laying on defenseless shelves, as if crackheads are suddenly impulsed to usurp cleansing lotions with moisturizing beads after a lengthy binge on diluted drugs, be weary corporate whores. Be weary, indeed, but at least come and view the spectacle that you've created.

  1. I use that store multiple times a week. I agree that it is frustrating that lotion is locked up and that there is no self checkout. That said, I generally like the store. The employees are friendly and helpful. I have never been hassled by a loiterer, not been greeted by a police officer at the front door (nor have I felt the need for one).

    At the end of the day, it is an urban store at a busy transit intersection. It is unrealistic to expect not to encounter folks from all walks of life.

  2. I went there about a week ago. It's not the worst CVS in the area. And I don't consider waiting behind 4 people a long line. Only if the line goes halfway to the pharmacy in the back, then it is a long line. Never had that. Also I buy my lotions in travel size or get them from the grocery store.

  3. I generally go to the one three blocks away right by the west entrance to U Street Metro...much nicer

  4. I used to go to this CVS when I needed to pick up my monthly prescription. I really liked the pharmacy. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I've always admired their patience considering some of the things they have to deal with day to day.

    The loiterers are obviously annoying. If you're a woman they WILL hit on you. I've found them to be generally harmless though. None of them have followed me around the store harassing me, which I have experienced at other locations in the district.

    I moved away and came back and now I go to the CVS in NoMa at M and 1st NE. It's brand new and really nice. It's a lot easier to get to and you can park in the Harris Teeter lot as long as you stop in there as well to buy something. I just think the location is more convenient with a grocery store, petco, bank, and lots of food options all right there. Otherwise I'd still probably go to this one.

  5. It's horrible compared to the 24 hour one in my old neighborhood. I am amazed at how poorly stocked they are.
