Subject: Would you consider blogging about Free Summer Meals?

I’m working with some DC government agencies and nonprofit organizations to increase participation in the DC Free Summer Meals Program.  I’m asking bloggers all over the city to participate in this effort; all the posts are different, though similar.

Thanks,

Ward 5 young people eat free all summer!
Kids and teens, birth to 18, can eat healthy and good-tasting meals at community sites—such as schools, community centers, libraries, and DPR sites—now through the end of August.  Most meal sites are open Monday through Friday though some are open Saturdays as Mayor Gray has just announced (http://mayor.dc.gov/release/mayor-vincent-c-gray-announces-expansion-districts-free-summer-meals-program).  Now through the end of the program, the Department of Parks and Recreation and DC Public Library have opened select sites to serve kids and teens on Saturdays. Turkey Thicket Recreation Center (1100 Michigan Ave NE) and Woodridge Library (1801 Hamlin St NE) are the two new Saturday meals sites.  And one site, Bishop Alfred Owens Family Community Center (605 Rhode Island Avenue NE), provides supper from 4:00 – 6:00 pm through August 23.

Thirty sites are open to the thousands of children and youth who live in Ward 5.

The list of sites—including name, address, hours of meals and snacks—is on the One City Youth Featured Programs site (http://onecityyouth.dc.gov/page/featured-programs).
