1700 2nd Street NW new condos coming sign erected; no retail in the building, it appears

I took some photos yesterday afternoon while strolling through Bloomingdale:

See these two cell-phone pics for 1700 2nd Street NW.

Here is the text on the newly erected sign on the side of the building.

1 studio unit for $199,000
8 one bedroom units: mid-$300,000's

So I guess that there will be no retail space in the building.

    I'm floored the neighborhood is at a place that a building like this can sell 1 bedrooms for mid-300s. Wow. Not saying it shouldn't at all. I'm just thinking back to what we bought our house for in 2006 and it makes me marvel. Disappointing on the retail though.

    Scott, I think *think* there is still a retail space along Florida Ave. that hasn't been built out (and probably won't be until the landlord finds a tenant willing to pay whatever rent is being asked). I think the studio unit is along 2nd Street on the ground floor.

    I don't know the developer but I'm guessing the Long and Foster folks would know for sure.
