Subject: [MPD-5D] Significant Arrest Made in Burglary Cases within the Bloomingdale/Edgewood Communities
BLOOMINGDALE/EDGEWOOD COMMUNITY ALERT: A Significant Arrest has been made in a number of Burglary Cases within our Bloomingdale/Edgewood Communities
The Fifth Police District has made a significant arrest of an individual involved in a series of Home Break ins that occurred in and around our Bloomingdale/Edgewood Communities.
This suspect was arrested yesterday evening by members of the Fifth District Detectives Unit acting upon information provided by a victim. Armed with this information, 5D Detectives were relentless in following up on that information which led to this arrest.
This arrest led to a search warrant that yielded a number of personal items that had been taken from homes listed below:
2200 block of 1st St NW that occurred on 07-21-13
100 block of Adams Street, NW that occurred on 06-02-13
100 block of Adams Street, NW that occurred on 07-31-13
Unit block of T street NW that occurred on 07-31-13 and
Unit block of Adams NW that occurred on 07-31-13.
We believe this suspect was also responsible for break ins at:
2200 block of North Capitol St. NE that occurred on 4/21/2013
100 block of Adams St. NW that occurred on 7/27/2013, and
1900 block of North Capitol St. NE that occurred on 7/31/2013.
Based upon evidence recovered in this case, we firmly believe this individual arrested is directly responsible for terrorizing the Bloomingdale/Edgewood Communities. We are compiling additional information concerning homes that were broken into that will also be closed out with this arrest.
This case will be presented to the United States Attorney's Office today for prosecution.
We believe that there are a number of homes that may have also been victimized that did not come forward or in some cases, entry was made into your homes but nothing was taken, thus no report was made to MPD.
Should you be the victim of such acts concerning your home or place of business, or if you are aware of a friend or neighbor that may been victimized, we ask that you contact Fifth Police District Detective Sergeant Michael Boland on 202-698-0060 or at michael.bolden@dc.gov immediately.
We now have in custody a major Burglar who has prayed on the Bloomingdale/Edgewood Communities putting our homeowners in fear. Based upon the aggressive police work performed by members of the Fifth Police District acting in unison as a Team, we can celebrate a success. Their hard work and relentless follow up on information and intelligence is paying great dividends. Great work by all!

What do we need to do to make sure this guy stays in jail. As I understand it, it is very common for criminals like this to be out on bail fairly quickly
ReplyDeleteContact email for Sgt. Boland is incorrect. It should be michael.boland@dc.gov
