Good morning Mr. Mandel,

We met on your way out of the BACA meeting with the Councilman last night.  I am a longtime resident of Ward 5 - 33 years - and my photos have been published in 24 books, over 55 magazines, and five films, including Guess Who with Ashton Kutcher and Bernie Mac.  The Smithsonian Institution this year acquired 50 photographs from my bestseller book, SOUL SANCTUARY: Images of the African American Worship Experience for its permanent collection.

My first commercial gallery showing in ten years, "MYSTERIOSO: Rhythm, Movement & Improvisation," takes place Oct. 4-30, 2013 in two locations - Anacostia Arts Center and The B Spot Art Gallery (next to Frager's Hardware).  There are two opening receptions; Friday, Oct. 4 from 6-9 pm at the Anacostia Arts Center and Saturday, Oct. 5 from 4-8 pm at The B Spot.

I hope you, Councilman McDuffie, and others in your office can lend your support to this major exhibition by a longtime Ward 5 resident and Howard University alum.

Thank you.

Jason Miccolo Johnson, photographer
