-->
Bloomingdale/LeDroit Park Residents:

In an effort to keep you informed about our work in your community, DC Water would like to provide you an update on the ongoing activities for the First Street Tunnel Project. Specifically, we have the following:

·         Utility Relocation Coordination
o   Informational flyers and email notifications to alert residents near the utility relocation area will be forthcoming as this work is scheduled to start in approximately two weeks.

·         Pre-Construction Surveys
o   Mailing efforts, calls and home visits to residents within the First Street Tunnel zone of influence to encourage participation in the pre-construction surveys are ongoing. Over 300 households in the impacted area have been contacted, and nearly 100 have participated in the pre-construction surveys as of 10/15/2013.

·         Field Investigations
o   Field investigation activities in the area are also ongoing, and informational flyers and email notifications will soon be circulated to alert residents of upcoming site borings and other environmental scoping work.

·         Community Meetings
In the coming weeks, DC Water will be scheduling a series of meetings with the community as a follow up to our summer outreach efforts-
o   Informational meeting to be held at the Bryant Street Pumping Station wherein DC Water will formally introduce the Design-Build Contractor, review the current schedule of work, and also provide an update on the proposed parking mitigation measures.
o   Similar meetings will be offered to ANC, local civic associations and directly impacted blocks.

Should you have any questions regarding this information, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Thanks much, and we hope to see you at tomorrow’s Northeast Boundary Tunnel Project Public Meeting/Open House! [http://bloomingdaleneighborhood.blogspot.com/2013/10/invitation-to-dc-waters-northeast.html]

  1. Does anyone else find it incredibly frustrating that DC government continues to plan meetings for the community at the exact same time on the exact same day (MidCityEast is also tonight at 6:30)? Any suggestions on how we might go about making it a community policy that this not happen?
