Candidates for the D.C. Democratic State Committee (DCDSC)
For the April 1, 2014 Primary Election Ballot
The DCDSC can be a very powerful and influential organization as it can have input into Democratic policy, which may impact D.C. residents. Therefore, it is important to see who is running and see what they stand for. Do they stand for you and support your views and goals for the District of Columbia? Do those running for national positions support your views and provide the voice you need and want? Do they project the image you want? Can they be effective and push through barriers to get things done?
It is not too late to pick up and run for office. Signatures are due right after the holidays in January 2014. I recall one candidate several years ago catching everyone by surprise by picking up nominating petitions a few days before the deadline to turn them in and she collected more than the 500 signatures needed for an at large position. She won! Go to the D.C. Board of Elections’ site for the pertinent information on how to run for the positions. Make a difference in D.C. and make sure the Democratic Party is moving in the right direction. Note that there have been politicians that were once on the DCDSC.
There are six at large committeemen and six at large committeewomen positions. For each ward, there are two committeemen and two committeewomen. There are one of each of these positions: National Committeeman, National Committeewoman, Alternate National Committeeman, Alternate National Committeewoman.
The information immediately following is from the D.C. Democratic State Committee (DCDSC) website:
As an arm of the Democratic National Committee, the 2012 goals of the State Party are to:
- Continue promoting the goals and mission of the National Democratic Party;
- Educate District of Columbia voters about the local Party;
- Increase Party participation in electoral politics through engagement and training; and
- Effectively inform and promote the 2012 Delegate Selection Plan.
All individuals interested in working with the D.C. Democratic State Committee to accomplish the goals are welcome to contact the Party at (202) 714-3368 or at dcdemocraticparty@gmail.com

Hi Scott- I don't understand what went on with all of the withdrawals and the second petition pickup, but I think the second listings are still active.
ReplyDeleteSo, another Bloomingdale resident is still a potential candidate -
Edgardo "Ed" Guerrero. He was collecting signatures Tuesday night at ANC 5E.
