This is from the Washington Firehouse Restaurant regarding its upcoming ABRA hearing (this was posted at the Eckington list by John WDC):
For those of us waiting for the Washington Firehouse to open please take a moment and head to their Facebook page. There are protests about their liquor license & they need our support. They've included a way to show your support.
From their FB page:
There have been several protests filed against the opening of the Washington Firehouse Restaurant. The owners through our attorney have in conjunction with the landlord and management attempted to accommodate the protesters requests in good faith. Unfortunately, the issues of those representing the protestors could not be resolved through meditation.
Anyone who wishes to write a letter in support of the liquor license for the Washington Firehouse Restaurant may do so by sending it to our attorney Makan Shirafkan via email, fax, or via postal mail at the address below.

FYI, as someone who lives a few doors down from the Firehouse, it's my understanding that no-one is protesting the restaurant, its opening, etc. The concern is that a open patio serving alcohol to about 100 people until midnight is going to be pretty loud. The restaurant should make an affirmative effort to reach out to its immediate neighbors and negotiate people/times so that the children who attend school and adults who get up to work, can get to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI'd take any kvetching by this group w/ a grain of salt after they accused the neighborhood for their failure to open restraurant.

Mike,
ReplyDeleteThose folks were not the ones currently operating this restaurant. I too was annoyed at the events 2 years ago but these are other folks using the same building (and perhaps the same landlord. that part is a little gray)
