Phew. I must admit I am worn out. The Zoning hearing process is draining. And it's not done yet!!!
Listening to critical testimony is tough but with you guys around, I am comforted. I hoped you too were cheered when Councilmember McDuffie and the ANC chair Sylvia Pinckney gave there unequivocal support. We Pro-Park-Creators are in good company! I can't thank you enough for devoting your time and energy to sitting in that stuffy room with us for hours on end.
Of course, I am listening to thoughtful concerns -- our commitments to traffic mitigation, a full service grocery and workforce development need to be very clear and effective. And you will hear more of those details in our rebuttal and closing statements on May 27th at the next hearing where the Commission expects to conclude all testimony and hear closing argument from the VMP team.
With that being said, in case you haven’t heard it yet from neighbors or have yet to see it online, due to overwhelming community turnout on Tuesday night and the late hour, the Zoning Commission carried over the hearing to a fifth night. It goes without saying that your presence is invaluable to our efforts. So, I ask you one last time, to please save the date to show your support at the hearing on May 27th at 6:30pm at 441 4th St NW.
As you know the process throughout these hearings has been constantly evolving, but here’s what we know now about the May 27th hearing:
- The last few registered opponents will testify, and then our team will present rebuttal and closing statements.
- Finally, VMP will be given a list of post hearing submissions to make in June in response. As always, we will be in touch if anything changes.
- There will be no new oral testimony but written testimony and letters of support will be accepted up until May 27th. So, please click here if you would like to submit either to the record.
So again, thanks for hanging around Judiciary Square with me. Together, we can CREATE McMILLAN PARK for everyone to enjoy!
Cheers,
Anne Corbett Vision McMillan Partners www.envisionmcmillan.com

Phew! I am worn out, too. Must be easier to tolerate the long hours and stuffy room if you have a big paycheck to cash after it is over.
ReplyDeleteWhy does VMP need Fontaine Company to promote Community support and "neutralize opposition". What kind of underhanded dirty trick garbage is this? Why The Carmen Group for $10,000 a month,,, we don't have better use of money than to pay this high priced Lobbyist firm to corrupt the hacks in the City Council? What a dirty, underhanded deal , and what a Monstrosity on Michigan,,,Memorialization? Anne your getting so fat, your butt will be a memorial soon!,,, Senator McMillan would be horrified, as most thinking people are. STOP the MONSTER, before it kills us all!
