While faceless bureaucrats get paid (by us taxpayers) to and do nothing, irreverent (and from out of town) developers are tearing up the neighborhoods. How long will the Mayor stand by and watch her city be diminished?.
Ms. Simpson, you seem too smart and engaged in your community to be so glib. It's clear from this picture that this is a renovation, not a tear down. Second, unless you are doing some intense on the ground reporting, which if you are I stand corrected, I'm not sure how you would know who is running this project. And finally, Mayor Bowser has been in office for about 45 days and we can reasonably assume that the permitting process begun and was completed during the previous administration, so let's give her some time to make her mark. The real point here is that our dialogue about the changes coming to our community has to be more civil than the example coming from the out-of-towners on Capitol Hill.
looks like Mr. Mosby beat me to the punch. so i will just second everything he stated and also add that you may want to fact check your statements before publishing them for all to see.
Jenifer is frustrated, as many residents are... within the span of only a couple of years, we've seen many houses in our small neighborhood get ripped apart and sold for parts, and much of their charm has been lost in the process. Jenifer does not need to be a reporter to have an opinion and view on this or any other renovation. Demeaning her point of view will only add to her frustration... (and that's a great metaphor for the citizens of DC and our elected officials).
Please also bear in mind also that we are not only dealing with all the housing "renovations" but ALSO a major street water pipe digging/drilling going on AS WELL AS the ongoing for 25+ years "development projected' at McMillan "park" so I will voice my OPINION whenever I feel like it. The neighborhood is under great pressure...
