Greetings First Street Tunnel Stakeholder,

We are contacting you to alert you of several activities related to and adjacent to the First Street Tunnel (FST) Project:

Noise:   Residents adjacent to the Adams Street & Flagler Place NW have contacted DC Water to inform us of excessive noise on the Adams and Flagler site.  DC Water and the contractor, Skanska Jay Dee (SKJD), determined that the vacuum truck in operation at the site did exceed the permitted noise levels.  To resolve this matter, SKJD has replaced the vacuum truck and installed additional sound walls. These changes are being monitored.

Saturday Work:  SKJD will be working on Saturday, April 25th from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the First & V Street and Thomas and First Street CSAs.

DDOT Work in Bloomingdale Court NW: The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will begin work in Bloomingdale Court on about April 27, 2015 (Weather Permitting). This work will include installing new brick around three sides of the homes fronting the west alley of First Street on Bloomingdale Court.  DC Water has coordinated with DDOT and their contractor, Capital Paving of DC.
In 2016, DC Water’s Contractor is scheduled to restore the west alley of First Street NW.  Restoration will begin when the freeze trench pipes and communication conduit under the west alley are no longer required.   Note: The re-bricking of the west alley from Bryant Street down to Thomas Street NW along with the restoration of all areas disturbed by construction of the tunnel project are scheduled for the winter of 2015 through the spring of 2016.

Restoration:  Bryant Street NW from 2nd Street to 4th Street, adjacent to DC Water’s Bryant Street Pump Station, is now open to vehicular traffic. The roadway, sidewalks and grass areas have been restored.

As always, if you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Tom Lindberg or Vickey Wilcher at 202.787.4738 or 202.787.4717, respectively.

Thank you for your participation and support of the FST project and we look forward to our continued work together.

Regards,

Tom
