Friends of McMillan to hold Sidewalk Benefit Sale – Proceeds for Legal Fund

The Friends of McMillan (FOM) will hold a Sidewalk Benefit Sale on Saturday, June 27th from 10am until 7pm (rain date is June 28) on the patio of the Dupont Italian Kitchen Restaurant, located at 17th and R Streets NW. All proceeds will go towards FOM’s legal expenses for the impending legal fight with the City and Vision McMillan Partners (VMP). FOM aims to stop the demolition and over-development of the Historic McMillan Sand Filtration Site located at the intersection of Michigan Ave. and North Capitol St. NW.

The sidewalk sale will feature high quality items and services that will include household furnishings, appliances, electronic devices, art, antiques, and coffee table books.  Also for sale will be gift certificates from local restaurants, tickets for theater and sporting events, as well as offers of professional services - landscaping, commissioned artistry, yoga lessons, etc. - at greatly reduced prices. Hungry shoppers can purchase pastries that will serve the dual benefit of satisfying their sweet tooth and FOM’s legal fund.

FOM will happily take donations of additional quality items and services for its sale up until the day before the event. To donate items, please contact Debby Hanrahan at debbyhanrahan@yahoo.com or call (202) 462-2054.

For those who cannot come to the sale but would like to donate to the legal fund online, visit www.crowdrise.com/savemcmillanpark. To learn more about the Historic McMillan Sand Filtration Site and the fight to save it, visit www.friendsofmcmillan.org.
