Meet Mary Robinson and Jeanne Briscoe, two of our regular
customers. They recently sent us a “Thank You,” explaining how
vital the Arcadia Mobile Markets are to them.
Benjamin, Mary, Shanelle, and Jeanne (with
Arcadia grown sweet potatoes!) at a November Mobile Market
stop. We hired Shanelle through the DC Summer Youth Employment
Program and she’s been with us for two seasons.

Market has profoundly impacted me & the community. The
farm-grown, fresh, appetizing vegetables & fruits are
the best produce in the DC area that I've eaten in a
long-time. The vacuumed-sealed meats are top-notch
quality. The discounted prices make healthy meals possible for
low-income families that otherwise couldn't afford to eat
better. And it motivates families to eat
healthier.”
Jeanne, who is on a health-restricted diet, relies on Arcadia
for its broccoli and sweet potatoes – high in potassium and low
in sodium.
“The vegetable
& fruits are not only fresh [never rotten] but noticeably
clean & well presented,” said Jeanne. “The discounted
prices have also made my food selections affordable.”
Our customers need affordable, quality foods that keep their
families healthy. The Arcadia Bonus Bucks program makes that
possible. This donor-funded program matches purchases made with
federal nutrition benefits like SNAP and WIC dollar for dollar.
More than 70 percent of Mobile Market customers use some form
of food assistance when they shop with us.
Without Bonus Bucks, many of our customers simply can’t afford
fresh food. And without the Mobile Markets, they have nowhere
to buy it in the neighborhood.

This season the Mobile Markets sold more than $186,000 in
locally, sustainably grown foods in neighborhoods that
otherwise don’t have access. That’s the fourth straight season
of double-digit sales increases in communities written off by
traditional retailers for lack of demand. Our customers want
affordable, quality foods that keep them healthy. The Arcadia Bonus Bucks program
makes that possible.
