Residents,
The National Weather Service (NWS) has forecasted a snow
accumulation of 12-24 inches for Friday, January 22, 2016. A snow
emergency will be declared at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. The District
Government will close at noon. District Public School’s will be closed.
The D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) will serve
as the emergency center of operations. If you or a neighbor is in need, please
note that warming center designated for Ward 5 is Trinidad Recreation
Center and the emergency shelter designated for residents impacted by a
power outage is Turkey Thicket Recreation Center. Please be sure that you

My office has been in contact with Pepco and they have
indicated that they are bringing in additional contractors to address any
power outages due to the snow storm. The Department of Public Works is
prepared for massive tree removal if necessary. If you see someone who is
experiencing homelessness or in need of warm clothing, please contact the
hypothermia hotline at 1-(800)-535-7252 or 311.
Please remind your neighbors that when a snow emergency
has been declared, you may not park on designated snow routes. Failure to
do so may result in a ticket of $250.
