    I'm very sad to hear this, especially sad to hear that the victim may have died.

    But seriously: where is MPD? There is a string of armed robberies and other high profile crime in the exact same 2-3 blocks and NOWHERE ELSE in the neighborhood. And MPD's reaction seems to be thoughts and prayers and willful blindness to the problem.

    At a minimum, we need a permanent, 24/7 police presence in this area until this stops. Yes, the construction is no doubt a contributing factor and certainly slows response times and creates a disincentive for MPD to drive through the area - but the real problem here is that MPD is nowhere to be found.

    I'd like to see a coherent plan from MPD about what they plan to do about this problem and someone to convince me the lights are on and someone is home in the Fifth District Headquarters.

    Here's some suggestions:
    1) Officers in the general vicinity of Adams and Flagler at all times.
    2) A car on each of Flagler, Adams, First, and Second at all times - even if sometimes unattended.
    3) Uniformed officers walking the blocks.

    This has to stop.
