Can someone clarify what this actually means? I know there is a Mayor's Agent hearing on Monday and both the Zoning Commission and Mayor's Agent approvals are needed to satisfy the Court of Appeals' requests. So if the Mayor's Agent 'approves' it and the Zoning Commission formally puts their decision in writing, what timeframe are we looking at? Is is possible we may see construction soon?
Construction for 15 years and the gobbling up the last green space, your brand of environmentalism, gobble, gobble, gobble, digest , pollute., and the noise, dust, and broken road ways for 15 years. You know we can put housing anywhere, and shopping anywhere, we don't have to destroy our 25 acres and let it be stolen by VMP. The medical office scam is not needed by WHC-Medstar, check out their Master Plan to completely re invent the hospital center with no need for VMP. Don't let these mediocre driven corporatist thieves put this entire scandal over on you. Providence don't need the medical offices, nor Howard, nor AFRH, nor Children's, nor Veterans. The comp plan doesn't allow excessive cluster of medical facilities where "not needed". The Comp plan directs that new medical facilities be constructed in under served areas. Frankly it it is the sheer ignorance and arrogance of the pro VMP-DC govt.supporters that is so obnoxious. You and your endless demand for consumption, more important than the Comp plan. Willingness to violate the law. Please, when you have a position backed by some form of social priority and common sense or environmental imperative, and facts, please post them. Do you believe just gobbling up everything is your right or the right of this corporate mega conglomerate? Lead by the most disgraced corrupt govt, our mediocre DC govt., an international embarrassment, think , question, try it you'll feel good, reject this stupid wretched excessive consumer materialism, and recognize the cost.
I don't think Daniel Wolkoff answered your question. Most likely there will be another round in court before there is a real groundbreaking. And, it will be done in phases when and if construction begins, starting on Michigan Avenue and working toward Channing. I don't think one phase has to be completed before they start the next but it would not be quick. Living in the neighborhood since the land was declared excess in the 80's, I no longer hold my breath waiting for anything to happen there.
Great news!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to this being wrapped up, finally, and to construction getting started so that the community can have this development, at long last.
