I strongly support bike lanes on 1st NW. I've been hit twice by cars on the block between NY Ave and O St. I'm lucky to be alive. Why do we have to wait for people die on that street? Sure, lots of people "stink", but in a collision between a driver & cyclist, the cyclist always loses, regardless of who "stinks". Without safe #bikedc lanes, people end up in the hospital or are killed. Without parking lanes, people are inconvenienced.— J_uptown (@J_uptown) March 23, 2018
Sure. I'm not arguing the macro of cars vs bikes. I support biking. I'm respectful of cyclists. I look for them and I'm happy to share the road. I just don't support this specific installation. This stretch of 1st St was part of my commute for about a year. I hated it so much, I'd slow roll on the sidewalk for those blocks rather than try to ride in traffic.
