Mr. Hughes:

No, there is no overlap of the two associations.  You client resides within the Stronghold area but if you're interest in sharing this info, by all means, do include the Edgewood Civic Association, too.

Yes, I do recommend that you meet with the association(s) before presenting to ANC5E.  Stronghold meets every 1st Monday of the month.  Edgewood meets every 4th Monday of the month.

ANC5E do not meet during the months of July and August.  We meet every 3rd Tuesday of the month.  Our next scheduled meeting is September 18th at the Friendship-Armstrong Public Charter School in the Cafeteria.  Address:  1400 Ist Street NW.

I will add you to the September Meeting Agenda.  Do you have a copy of an old notification of the first approval?

Subject: Application to Board of Zoning Adjustment for Expanded Child Care Home

Good afternoon Commissioners-

My office represents Maria Naranjo, who is a resident within your ANC, at 2909 North Capitol Street, NE.  Ms. Naranjo has operated a home-based daycare at her residence for a number of years and is interested in slightly increasing enrollment, from 9 children currently to 12 children.  She obtained approval from the Board of Zoning Adjustment for this increase in 2012 but did not end up pursuing that full increase at that time.  Given that the original BZA approval lapsed after five years, we are now preparing a new application to the BZA seeking the same approval.

We would like to make a presentation to ANC 5E prior to our hearing before the BZA and to answer any questions you might have.  We anticipate a public hearing sometime in late September or in October.

Also, I would appreciate your direction with respect to citizens associations.  It appears that Ms. Naranjo’s property may be within the boundaries of both the Stronghold and Edgewood Civic Associations.  Is there an overlap of these associations?  Do you recommend that we meet with these associations before presenting to your ANC?

Thank you for your consideration and direction.  We look forward to working with you.

Best regards,

Dennis
