North Capitol Main Streets Launches its Annual I<3 font=""><3 b="">3>3>North Cap
Photo Contest
WASHINGTON,
DC – North Capitol Main Streets (NCMS), the organization driving neighborhood
promotions and commercial revitalization in the Bates, Bloomingdale, Eckington
and Truxton neighborhoods, is launching its annual #I (Heart) North Cap photo
contest for 2019. The contest invites everyone from professional
photographers to those with a creative spirit to submit their favorite
neighborhood captures to be displayed gallery style at North Capitol Main
Streets Annual Report Release Party on February 20 at Anxo Cidery and
Pinxtos Bar. This event is open to the public (RSVP to Lauren@OtimWilliams.com required)
and bites and cocktails will be provided. Here guests can also vote on their
favorite photo.
Whether
it be a casual snap from an iPhone or a professional photograph, from a
resident, tourist or visitor, North Capitol Main Streets welcomes all submissions
and is excited to share the photographs that capture everyday experiences that
make these neighborhoods so special. Ten (10) winning photographs will be
selected by our panel of judges which include Philippa Hughes The Pink Line
Project, Kristi Maiselman, Executive Director of Cultural DC, Taylor
Barden Golden, Bloomingdale Reporter at MidCity DC Magazine, Yuh
Wen Ling, Board Chair at North Capitol Main Streets Inc and Steven
Cummings, Artist. The top 10 photos will be printed, mounted and on display at
the reception, and guests will have the option of a “people’s-choice”
vote. Awards for winning photographs include use in promotional material
and a prize package will be given to the top three photos.
The
winner of the grand prize will receive a $300 cash prize and tons of exposure.
Their photo will be used in multiple 2019 NCMS promotions and enlarged to be
displayed as a fence art installation at the corner North Capitol and Florida
Avenue to be seen by thousands daily. The winner will receive a profit-sharing
merchandising contract where their work will be featured on custom items such
as magnets and playing cards, and sold online and at neighborhood events like
the Taste of North Cap and Art All Night. more prizes are being added. Submissions
will be accepted up until midnight February 15, 2019. Interested parties should
