The Armed Forces Retirement Home has canceled plans to let a private developer convert the historic Grant Building on its Northwest D.C. campus into an assisted living facility, an initiative launched to generate additional revenue for the self-funded, executive branch agency.

The decision to cancel the LOI does not impact the AFRH's pending request for proposals to developers to redevelop an 80-acre portion of its 272-acre campus by North Capitol and Irving streets NW. That process that has been delayed due to the federal shutdown but is expected to advance to the selection stage later this spring.
