see this 1942 release from racial deed covenants -- because Negro owners maintain their properties better than white renters
In 1942, part
of the 100 block of Adams Street NW signed a release from the deed covenants.
The theme is that Negro owners are better than white renters and the neighbors would rather have the Negro owners
because they maintained their properties, whereas white renters did not.
