Subject: NEBT: Florida Avenue NW Construction Site Update
|
Greetings Neighbors.
Saturday
Work
As part of construction associated with the Northeast Boundary
Tunnel Project (NEBT) (dcwater.com/NEBT), DC Water’s contractor
will be conducting Saturday
work on
March 28, 2020 at the Florida Avenue NW
Construction Site. Workers will be mixing grout into the muck pit to firm up and dry
out the spoils. (A muck pit holds the spoils of excavated earth
from the drop shaft. These spoils are often watery and need to be
dried out prior to off-site disposal). There may be some limited
noise associated with the mixing activity. The work will be
contained within the site and construction will not cause any
additional traffic or pedestrian impacts. There will be no hauling
from the site during this Saturday work.
Saturday work at the Florida Avenue site is scheduled to take place
between 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. People who live or work near the
site will notice some noise associated with construction
activities.Thank you for your patience.
Project
Details
The Northeast Boundary Tunnel is the largest component of the Clean
Rivers Project. It begins south of RFK Stadium and will extend
north to Rhode Island Avenue, NE and west to 6th Street
NW. When finished, the approximately five-mile long tunnel segment
will complete the Anacostia River Tunnel, a 13.1-mile-long tunnel that
ends at the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. This
project will significantly reduce chronic flooding in the areas it
serves, as well as reduce the amount of combined sewer overflows
into the Anacostia River.
