Grocery Sites at DC Schools for Families in Need New Hotline for Homebound Residents to Request Food and Other Essential Items National Park Service to Close Some Roads in Parks Eleanor Holmes Norton Telephone Town Hall Grocery Sites at DC Schools for Families in Need Today, Mayor Bowser launched 10 weekday grocery distribution sites at District schools to help families access meals and other resources during the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency. The grocery distribution sites are being launched in partnership with Martha’s Table and DC Central Kitchen. The sites are available to all families and are open Monday – Friday, 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Residents can pick up pre-packed grocery bags, which include fresh produce and dry goods. Groceries are being distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast and lunch are still being distributed at these schools and other sites across the District. New Hotline for Homebound Residents to Request Food and Other Essential Items The Mayor also launched a COVID-19 Needs Hotline and Web Portal for residents to request food and other essential items be delivered to their homes if they have been directed by a medical provider to self-quarantine, or if they have no other means to acquire these items. National Park Service to Close Some Roads in Parks Starting this week, the National Park Service (NPS) and the United States Park Police (USPP) will close Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park and roads in Anacostia Park and Fort Dupont Park to vehicle traffic so that residents can access these roads for essential exercise. Beach Drive, which is already closed to traffic on the weekends, will keep closures through April 30. The USPP and NPS staff will monitor park use as well as guest compliance with social distancing. Some parking areas may temporarily close as needed to minimize congestion. Anacostia Park and Fort Davis Drive in Fort Dupont Park will be closed to traffic daily from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm This schedule will remain through Thursday, April 30. The USPP will be managing the road closures starting on Tuesday, April 14 through Thursday, April 30. As the coronavirus (COVID-19) public health emergency continues, a stay-at-home order remains in effect. DC residents should only leave home for essential activities.
