This
Parish of the Episcopal / Anglican Church was founded in 1930 as
an Episcopal Church for African Americans. St. George's
witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as expressed through the
Anglican Tradition. We serve as a guiding light for our
parishioners as well as the larger community. We bid
you welcome in the name of the Lord!

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say,
Rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is
near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made
known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus. (Phil 4:4-7)
Thanksgiving is at the heart of
Christian life. The principal act of Christian worship is an act
of thanksgiving for what God has done for us in Jesus, which we
offer not only for ourselves but for the world.
For our traditional holiday of
Thanksgiving -- we gather intentionally and share our
gratitude for the gifts from God and the gifts of the
relationships that bind us together around our table and our
community of friends and supporters.
This year is a year in which
most of us are not with our families - we are reimagining our
Traditional Thanksgiving. No matter how you are celebrating
-- know that I give thanks to each of you. You welcomed me
with open arms last March - for that I give you thanks. I give
thanks for your ministries. I give thanks for your
generosity. We are walking through this clergy transition
time together in intentional discernment. Thank you for all
that you are doing in this and thank you for your support.
My prayer this Thanksgiving even
in this COVID-19 time - is that it will be a time that deepens
your bond with those you love with those whom you worship, and
most importantly with God, the giver and the gift. As you
remember Thanksgivings past and give thank this year, remember
the God who is the source of all.

St. George's Episcopal Church
Women take up a collection twice a year to support the United
Thank Offering (UTO), a ministry of The Episcopal Church for the
mission of the whole church. Our fall collection is timed with
the holiday of Thanksgiving as a reflection of our personal daily
spiritual discipline of gratitude. ECW encourages St. George
parishioners to notice the good things that happen each day, give
thanks to God for those blessings and make an offering for each
blessing to UTO. Please join us and make a donation to the parish
office, payable to ECW with UTO on the memo line. Thank you for
your generosity and have a blessed Thanksgiving!

Advent Study
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
Beginning December 2, 2020.
During this season
of Advent, we will move through the first two chapters of
the Gospel of Luke. Luke’s Gospel provides a pattern
for understanding how we can live the Way of Love as individuals, as families and friends, as
a community and out in the world. Beginning on Wednesday,
December 2, please join the Rev. Jenkins and the Rev. Rolle
as we take this journey together.

Office of Evening Prayer held Monday through Thursday at 5:30.
The
Daily Office is an ancient practice that uses daily prayers to
mark the times of the day. For Anglicans, this generally comes in
the form of the two main offices of Daily Morning Prayer and
Daily Evening Prayer.
The
Purpose of the Daily Office: The sanctification of time – a
reminder that all time is sacred since all time belongs to God
and the sanctification of the individual – a way to draw a person
closer to God.

receive the elements in the vessels pictured below which can be
reverently stored in your sacred space.

Holy
Communion
All those desiring to partake in receiving Holy
Communion during our live-streamed service may pick up
pre-consecrated elements at the church on Fridays between 9:00
am to 12:00 noon. Or on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 11:00
am. Please ring the bell at the side door and The Rev.
Jenkins will bring you the elements. You will receive the
elements in a container. Please handle the pre-consecrated
elements with reverence and keep in a sacred place in your home.
We begin with Holy Communion in our Liturgy this
Sunday.

Bible
Study
Weekly Bible Study in Ordinary Time – Bible
Study continues via the online platform Zoom. Please join us
on Sundays at 9:00 am as we explore and deepen our understanding
of scriptures based on the Lectionary lessons. You
don't have to know anything about the Bible - just bring your
heart. We will meet virtually.

Kwanzaa Kitchen: Janis has
been able to come up with a unique way in which we will continue
to feed the hungry in this important ministry. It involves fewer
than 6 people and we will pack the food to go and place it
outside on tables for people to take their breakfast with them.
We will continue this way until we are able to gather groups
together again.
