Subject: Hey, we're open rain
or shine- umbrella and tent edition
Date:

Hi BFM Fans!
Of course we are open in pouring rain or light rain or drizzle. You know that we never close because of a little weather. Ted and the kids have been setting up since 5:30 am. Just bring your umbrella and scoot under the tents if those drops fall. You don't want to miss The Big Brine's pickles, kimchi and kraut or the Moon Cakes that Susan's team has been working on since July!
THE BIG BRINE: Inspired by our old friends at Number 1 Sons
(now sadly closed), Robert makes pickles, krauts and kimchi.Damien at Panorama
called to tell us about him as soon as he heard Sons was stopping at the end of
August, Ted contacted him before any other market could and one week
after Numaber 1 Sons closed, he joined us. Come on down.
Moon Cakes. Moon Cake. Moon Cakes. The Mid Autumn Festival started last night
and lasts for a few weeks all over Asia. People nibble moon cakes, sip
"hairy crab" tea and contemplate the moon. Once the clouds
clear, we will too.
Susan's team at CHINESE STREET MARKET is the center for Moon Cakes in the DC
area. This year she is making her version of Cantonese classics, She has a lot
to say about them on her website and rather than paraphrase it, I will link so
you can read all the fascinating details about the
tradition, history and descriptions of the cakes themselves. Making

WHISKED:
Jenna Says: We know everyone is going in hard for pumpkin spice
but we're currently craving our Molasses Spice Cookies. They are oh so
perfectly chewy. The dough is made from organic sugar cane, sweet molasses and
lots of the good stuff - real butter. We mix in some of our favorite warming
spics: cinnamon and nutmeg to make it taste like gingerbread. To top things
off, we sprinkle a little sugar on top and bake to perfection.
Pro Tip: If you're still craving pumpkin put a big scoop of
pumpkin ice cream between two of these and you will not be disappointed.
