  1. My home renovation is held up by same thing. Structural reviewers at DCRA are a total joke. I suggest filling out a "grade your government" report. I did so after months of delays and the Director of DCRA responded immediately to my negative feedback. Be careful though - after complaining, the structural reviewer looked at the plans that day but came back with a laundry list of totally ridiculous comments that we are now having to comply with so that he could justify sitting on the drawings for so long. Really fed up with the way this city is managed... Good luck grassroots - can't wait for you to open!

  2. It took me 3 trips to DCRA to get my permits for structural. Unfortunately they only have 1 Structural Engineer on spot. This was for a residential permit, so imagine commercial is much more aggressive. Can you hire an expeditor? I would think it would be $ well spent if you aren't going to make money with opening on time. Good Luck, we are excited for your opening.

  3. i don't think there's anywhere in DC govt where paperwork is processed rapidly. You have to plan for d-e-l-a-y-s, calls not being processed, paperwork not being transferred, files not being sent over, wrong forms given you, bizarre information requests, etc etc. At least they are not requiring us to speak Ptydepe yet.
