Subject: Rain Barrel Initiative Update

Hello: See the DDOE update on the rain barrel initiative. Please disseminate this information to your communities. Thanks.

Bloomingdale Rain Barrel Installation Update

Homeowners who wish to have a rain barrel installed on their property may still submit a request.  To sign up, homeowners simply need to call (202) 535-2252 or email wpd.intern @ dc.gov with their name, address, and contact information.  Before a rain barrel can be installed, DDOE will make arrangements to meet you at your home and conduct a stormwater audit.  The purpose of the audit is to ensure that the rain barrel is situated properly and is the appropriate size. Once the audit is completed the information will be sent to DC Greenworks to schedule installation.

DC Greenworks began installing the 130 gallon RiverSides barrels on Thursday, November 1st, and will be ramping up installation of these barrels during the week of November 5th and beyond.  Homeowners who have had a stormwater audit completed by DDOE and is expecting a barrel will receive a call or email from DC Greenworks to schedule this installation in one to three weeks.  The RainBox rain barrels shipment is expected during the week of November 5th.  Homeowners expecting the installation of this type of barrel can expect a call or email to schedule installation in the next two to three weeks.
