Unplugged Bluegrass - The Stickmob this Friday night, Dec 14th

Join us for our Friday night music series on December 14th at 9pm featuring The Stick Mob.
-
D.C.-based folk combo, The Stick Mob, plays a lively blend of bluegrass, old-time, folk, and country music. The band was born from a group of friends in Washington’s Adams Morgan neighborhood getting together on cold winter Sunday evenings to play music over a few glasses of wine and some bowls of home-made chili and cornbread. Within a year, they evolved into a tight, entertaining ensemble that plays subway stops, house parties, farmers markets, coffeeshops, wine festivals and music halls, whenever their demanding, world-saving jobs allow, jokes mandolinist Marcos. They self-released their first CD of original material in 2011.

Their original songs reflect the varied, interesting lives the bandmates have had; one is about a near-shipwreck that singer/banjoist Suzanne experienced. Guitarist Matt writes about his Peace Corp sojourn in the Dominican Republic’s fields of sugar cane. Fiddler Katie, a onetime park ranger, wrote a song about cave exploration. Delivered with joy and enthusiasm, the Stick Mob’s songs entertain and delight.
