O Street Market Giant Set to Reopen Nov. 22

For the Shaw and Bloomingdale residents currently living in a food desert, here's something to be grateful for this Thanksgiving: The Giant at O Street Market will reopen on Nov. 22.
                     
A spokesman for Giant confirmed the date, but didn't offer any more details on the opening.
The store shuttered in Sept. 2011 for construction of the new City Market at O—a million-square-foot retail and residential development.
                                          
Giant will be the first part of the development to open its doors, and when it does, it will be the largest grocery store in the city at 78,000 square feet. The historic O Street Market will be part of the grocery store and it will have a seafood counter, produce section, and meat deli.
