Evans Reaffirms Strong Support for McMillan Park

Councilmember and mayoral candidate Jack Evans recently reaffirmed his commitment to saving McMillan as a public park.  At a meeting on October 24, 2013, in his Council office, he told a delegation from Friends of McMillan Park, “I'm with you; I will help save the park.”  Evans had already signed the Friends’ petition at his campaign kickoff event in June.

 

Evans further demonstrated his support for a park when he noted that the Gray Administration’s plan for McMillan “looks like Crystal City” when shown an illustration of the latest iteration.  He also asked if a partial, near-term opening of the Park was possible for, say, $10 million. Evans is planning to expound upon his vision for McMillan Park at an upcoming meet-and-greet for his campaign in Bloomingdale on November 10^th.

 

The Friends of McMillan Park continue to solicit support from the other mayoral candidates, including from Councilmember Muriel Bowser who refused to sign the petition at a recent campaign event in Ward 5.
