The house of a friend of us just got burglarized on U st NW between 1st and N. Cap. They just bought the house and moved in 5 days ago. The burglarsbusted the front basement door (see picture) and destroyed the sensor and home protection system. It seems that there has been a recent spike in home break-ins in the neighborhood. Wondering if the police is planning on stepping up their presencein the neighborhood. I thought I would share with you to alert the community. Thanks.
A few additional questions that I asked -- and the responses:
1) did the home security system get triggered? Was an audible or silent alarm set off? I DON'T KNOW2) where the occupants at home? NO3) was property stolen? YES - BRAND NEW TV, LAPTOPS AND IPADS; ALL THE HOUSE WAS SEARCHED4) were the police contacted and was a report filed with the police? YES
This is obviously terrible and concerning, but isn't a home invasion, by definition, an entry of an occupied home?
ReplyDeleteHome invasion = house break-in. Occupied or non-occupied.
ReplyDeleteFair enough. Its not the common definition - http://www.wjla.com/tag/home-invasion/ but its your blog:)
Deleteokay, you win. We are at "house break-in".
ReplyDeleteNot trying to "win" anything. Just when I see a home invasion notice I'm thinking people are breaking into homes with guns while people are home - which is even more troubling that a break in. That's all.
