Subject: First Street Emergency Water Shutoff
|
Earlier
today, while working on the Northeast Boundary Tunnel Project, DC
Water’s contractor accidentally struck a 16” water line at the
First Street Construction Site.
As a result, water service has been interrupted for resident homes
between addresses 31 and 75 along westbound side of Rhode Island
Avenue NW and the north side of T Street NW between First and 2nd
Streets NW.
Technicians are now on the scene and accessing the situation to
make the necessary repairs to restore service as soon as possible.
We will update you as soon as we learn more about when service will
be restored. If you have questions, please contact us at dccleanrivers@dcwater.com or the NEBT
Hotline 800-988-6151.
We apologize for the inconvenience.

Project
Details
The Northeast Boundary Tunnel is the largest component of the Clean
Rivers Project. It begins south of RFK Stadium and will extend north
to Rhode Island Avenue, NE and west to 6th Street,
NW. When finished, the approximately five-mile-long tunnel segment
will complete the Anacostia River Tunnel, a 13.1-mile-long tunnel
that ends at the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant.
This project will significantly reduce chronic flooding in the
areas it serves, as well as reduce the amount of combined sewer
overflows into the Anacostia River.
