No-Appointment Coronavirus Testing is Available Everday Downtown and is Now Coming to Firehouses National Arboretum Set to Reopen June 8 DCPS Summer Offerings and Reopen Survey No-Appointment Coronavirus Testing is Available Everday Downtown and is Now Coming to Firehouses Do you think you might have been exposed to coronavirus? DC has ample testing capacity and you are encouraged to get tested if you believe you may have been exposed. DC Health has released additional guidance for people taking part in protests ("First Amendment Activities"). Check https://coronavirus.dc.gov/testing for full details on testing but some of the ways District residents can access testing include: Free walk-up coronavirus testing will be available from 4 - 8 pm at firehouses across DC. No appointment required. (See image above) Free testing by appointment at the UDC-CC Bertie Backus Campus on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am – 2 pm. For an appointment, call 1-855-363-0333. Free walk-up testing is available near Judiciary Square on F Street, NW between 4th and 5th Streets, NW, Monday through Friday, 10 am – 2 pm. No appointment required. Residents should look for the registration tent. National Arboretum Set to Reopen June 8 Beginning June 8, the US National Arboretum in Ward 5 will reopen with operational changes in place to protect staff and federal resources. The new schedule will see the Arboretum open from 1 to 5 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Entry to the grounds will be provided via dedicated access points and there will be limited services and amenities during this time. Visitors will be required to follow all posted guidelines designed to maximize the safety and health of all visitors and employees, including social distancing rules. For more information on new operating hours and a listing of accessible areas, potential visitors are encouraged to review the Arboretum website at www.usna.usda.gov. DCPS Summer Offerings and Reopen Survey DCPS is sharing a number of free, virtual resources available to all DCPS families to keep your student engaged in learning while school is not in session. You can visit the DCPS Summer Learning for All page on Canvas to explore dedicated resources for students in grades from Pre-K through high school. These resources are separate from programs that require virtual summer school enrollment. Families can download a “LEARN” card to play a fun bingo-inspired game. Just select a student’s grade band — Pre-K, K-2, 3-5, 6-8, or 9-12 — to get ideas for both virtual and hands-on learning. And you can sign-up for DC Public Library's Virtual Summer Challenge and commit to reading at least 20 minutes each day to earn prizes. Explore even more on Canvas. Enrollment is open for virtual summer programming for students in grades K-12 that will begin this month. Visit dcps.dc.gov/summer to learn more about these summer enrichment and credit-recovery programs and to register. Free meal service and grocery distribution will also continue throughout the summer every weekday. Families can visit coronavirus.dc.gov/food to find where meals are being served near you. Check back frequently as more locations are being added weekly throughout June.
