Evans Reaffirms Strong Support for McMillan Park
Councilmember and mayoral candidate Jack Evans recently reaffirmed his commitment to saving McMillan as a public park.  At a meeting on October 24, 2013, in his Council office, he told a delegation from Friends of McMillan Park, “I'm with you; I will help save the park.”  Evans had already signed the Friends’ petition at his campaign kickoff event in June.

Evans further demonstrated his support for a park when he noted that the Gray Administration’s plan for McMillan “looks like Crystal City” when shown an illustration of the latest iteration.  He also asked if a partial, near-term opening of the Park was possible for, say, $10 million. Evans is planning to expound upon his vision for McMillan Park at an upcoming meet-and-greet for his campaign in Bloomingdale on November 10th.

The Friends of McMillan Park continue to solicit support from the other mayoral candidates, including from Councilmember Muriel Bowser who refused to sign the petition at a recent campaign event in Ward 5.
