So, i went to this
at the Big Bear.
It was a pretty hoppin scene. lots of people showed up. i saw a ton of neighbors i knew and more that i didn't.
The big bear is almost completely gutted. there were displays by corcoran students. some good ideas, but its doubtful that any are the real thing, as it was just a class exercise.
The second floor will (sadly) become an apartment. Could make a great lounge area, screening room, bar. but seems that the owners may need to generate some income from the place. go figure.
So, everyone that i knew and talked to their seemed pretty excited by the potential, and the reality of some decent place to hang out in the hood.

they'll make a lot more money having that second floor be a bar over the potential rent they would get from someone that would want to live over a coffee shop.

i'd guess that they have an existing CofO and that a liquor licence might be pretty hard to come by.
