WaPo 1889: "Washington's new reservoir: will it some day cause a disaster like that of Johnstown?"

See this Washington Post article from 1889 regarding DC's new reservoir -- the McMillan Reservoir.

In June, 1889, following a heavy rain and flooding in the Washington area, a reporter for The Washington Post was told that the new reservoir was strong, and was not located where it would receive drainage, therefore, "there is no danger of the Johnstown disaster repeating in this city".

New Classes Starting In September at The Unified Scene Theater: Intro To Improv Comedy and Storytelling for Performance!

The Unified Scene Theater has just announced their latest round of classes for September and October, featuring two that are ideal for the novice performer, with no experience necessary or required. Read on...

Our Next Introduction To Improvisational Comedy Begins Monday, September 11th!

Our next seven-week Introduction to Improv Comedy Class Improv Class will be held on Mondays, 7:00 p.m. – 9 p.m., September 11th through Monday, October 23rd (six weeks of instruction, with a graduation show in week seven, on Monday, October 23rd). We'll focus on and take a deeper dive into some of the things that inform great (and hilarious) improv scenes: agreement, commitment, energy,  and context through exercises and games that demonstrate the fundamental principles behind this fun and exciting art form. Again, no experience necessary.

More info on our website. Ready to register? Go here

Our next Storytelling for Performance Class Begins on Wednesday, September 13th!

The Unified Scene Theater's next Storytelling for Performance Class begins on Wednesday, September 13th and goes through Wednesday, October 11th, from 7-9 p.m. (four weeks of instruction, with a graduation show in week 5, on the evening of October 11th). In this class, you'll learn everything from how to gather information for a story, shape into a recognizable narrative arc, and then strategies for telling it in public. We take you from having an unshaped story idea to having a performance-ready story to share in a few short weeks. Also: our graduation show will be held at Big Bear Cafe, our neighbors only a few blocks away.

Hi fellow Bloomingdale moms

Patience and grace have become my two favorite words since deciding to open Creative Grounds DC.

We are so anxious to open our doors to the community. But before we do that we must plead our case to the Board of Zoning. In preparation for our hearing I am securing signatures of support from residents within a 200mile radius of the site, 1822 North Capitol St,, NW

If you would, kindly visit the petition below and show your support by signing.

Thanks in advance, and have a great Sunday!
