Eckington Community,
In a meeting on September 11, 2014, members of the Vision McMillan Partners development teampresented to the National Capitol Planning Commission (NCPC) staff a proposal to modify the healthcare building located in the northwest corner of Parcel 1. The plan presented maintained the recent height reduction made to the building from 130 feet to 115 feet, as requested by the Zoning Commission, and in addition moved the elevated section of the western wing of the building 15 feet east, shifting it toward the center of the building. The NCPC staff concurred with the development team that this solution improved the view from Scott Statue by maintaining an acceptable level of the character that defined this important view. Through the agreed upon height reduction and modifications to the building’s western wing, additional visual separation was provided between the healthcare building and the Capitol dome, thereby exposing additional foreground and background context against which to view the Capitol dome and the horizon line established by the Anacostia hills in the distance.
Provided the amended design described above is presented to the Zoning Commission as the final design for Zoning Case 13-14, NCPC staff had no further objections to the proposed building heights and impacts on views from the Armed Forces Retirement Home.
On September 29, 2014, the Commission will consider proposed action on the case.
Sylvia M. Pinkney, Chairperson ANC 5E

The Zoning Commission and VMP "do a little dance", and Bloomingdale and DC, and the nation will suffer the results.
Thanks Jamie Fontaine and Company for their unethical fake grassroots "astroturf" campaign paid for with DC taxpayer money, what a slime ball we have here!
Neighbors describe their confusion as to who's lawn sign means what.
Good job Jamie Fontaine, good job!
Chairman of the DC Zoning Commission Anthony Hood says " no body testified to saving all 25 acres of park land",,,Thanks Mr. Hood, you didn't listen to a word that was said by over 40 opponents of this monstrous development plan. You didn't read the testimony either, PATHETIC!
Good job irresponsible Zoning Commission, good job corrupt DC government, good job, excellent urban planning!
